The clinic is not officially open in the mornings until 8:00 am (9:00 am on Wednesdays) for phone calls, appointments, etc. However, some support staff are there on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings at 7:30 am to receive patients being dropped off for surgery or drop off appointments for the convenience of those clients who need to be to work by eight.
If you cannot pick up your pet before closing time at 5:00 pm, please let the staff know; they will do their best to accommodate your picking up your pet after closing if your work schedule requires that. Please note that Dr. Rice and the staff work very long days (they usually have to work many more hours during the week than the posted open hours). Therefore, it is necessary for their physical well-being and family life for the hospital to be closed on the weekends. However, Dr. Rice is usually available to his active clients for after-hours emergencies. If you are a client and have a dire emergency with your pet, just contact the main clinic phone at (870) 423-2211. You will be put in touch with Dr. Rice from there. If Dr. Rice is out-of-town, as he occasionally has to be, you will be directed to contact the emergency clinic in Springdale or one of the other veterinary clinics in the area.
Please kindly consider that doctors have very little time for their "other life" and their families. General questions and non-emergency situations can easily be handled during regular business hours. Dr. Rice is frequently overwhelmed with messages after hours. He will return calls to clients who have true emergencies promptly. Non-emergency messages will gladly be responded to on the next business day. Thank you for your understanding.
